Home to one of the Robusta coffee plantations in the country, the region of Wayanad and its lush coffee estates have a tale of history, home brewing culture and amazing coffee to tell.

At Old Babbler coffee, we bring you farm fresh coffee grounds and its products from selected single estates in Wayanad that are organically grown by small scale farmers. We believe in the goodness of the soil and the power of sustainability. Handplucked from shade grown coffee farms and roasted in small batches, be ready for the Old Babbler experience!

Coffee is very high in antioxidants which helps in protecting the skin from damages. The rough texture of coffee makes them a good exofiliant and a great way to get rid of dead skin cells. The amino acids present in the coffee also strengthens the skin’s immunity giving them a protection from UV rays from the sun. The anti-infalmmatory properties of coffee also reduces wrinkles and discolouration. It moisturises the skin and gives the skin the glow it needs. Coffee is also a collagen booster, it reduces swelling of the skin and helps to treat acne

Robusta coffee beans are known to be stronger, more bitter in flavour and has a higher caffeine content. Robusta beans leave an intense taste on the palate and is rich in aroma. Mostly preferred in expresso machines they are know for their creamy texture if brewed well. Grown in lower altitudes, the robusta coffee beans leave a slight woody and nutty taste. Mainly grown in Africa, India and Indonesia, the robusta beans compliment well with various blends.

Nearly 30% of india’s coffee grows in Kerala, almost all of it Robusta.

The main districts are Wayanad, Travancore and Palakkad, and the famed monsooned Malabar is
historically rooted in this area. In Wayanad, almost all coffee growers are small scale farmers where coffee is a livelihood. Harvest takes place once a year and the main harvesting season are from December to January. Traditional filter coffee made from three-quarters coffee and one quarter chicory is a popular beverage.
